The current research goals includes the following:
- the continued discovery and dissemination of basic knowledge about reproduction, endocrine systems and the environment with an eye toward wildlife population issues
- the continued assembly of an interdisciplinary research team which provides for the utilization of a diversity of “in vivo” and “in vitro” techniques and multilevel analyses (e.g., molecular to behavioral) in a variety of system models (unicellular to humans).
- the strategic expansion of national and international research partnerships in academia and industry
The multidisciplinary core faculty and principle investigators of the CDR have in common shared research interests, academic backgrounds, and expertise that relate to endocrine systems and reproduction. These CDR core faculty members are trained in a wealth of diverse experimental techniques and include: Dr. Loretta Mayer and Dr. Cheryl Dyer (founders of the DRL), Dr. Catherine Propper, Dr. Timothy Vail, and Dr. Constance Smith. In the past three years (2005-2007), the core faculty have published 14 articles/book chapters, and delivered 31 presentations at conferences. CDR scientists have led projects including collaborations with the National Institutes of Health, The American Heart Association, the USDA and the NSF.
